Consult

At Pencil & Pathways, we provide consultation to families and schools navigating questions about learning, behavior, development, and emotional functioning. We help translate complex information into practical next steps for students at home and at school.

We regularly partner with parents, teachers, administrators, and other professionals to:

-Determine when additional evaluation or intervention may be warranted

-Interpret previous evaluations, IEPs, 504 plans, and intervention data

-Develop academic, behavioral, executive-functioning, and social-emotional supports

-Identify appropriate accommodations and classroom strategies

-Strengthen systems of support for individual students and school communities

From one-time consultation or ongoing collaboration, our goal is to help students thrive—by supporting the adults who guide them.

Collaborative Support for Families and Schools

Consulting with Parents

We work closely with parents and caregivers to help them better understand their child’s learning profile and explore ways to support their growth at home and at school.

Parent consultations may focus on:

  • Determining whether an evaluation is needed

  • Reviewing prior assessments, IEPs, 504 plans, or accommodation plans

  • Clarifying a student’s strengths and challenges

  • Understanding available school-based supports

  • Discussing effective strategies for learning, behavior, and executive functioning

  • Navigating communication with school teams

Our goal is to help parents understand the available information, identify priorities, and determine practical next steps for supporting their child.

Consulting with Schools

With experience in dozens of public, private, and charter schools across the Austin area, we support school teams through collaborative, data-informed consultation.

School consultations may include:

  • Helping determine the need for psychoeducational, language, or behavioral evaluations

  • Interpreting assessment data to guide instruction and intervention

  • Providing consultation and data interpretation to inform eligibility and student-support decisions

  • Providing recommendations for accommodations or classroom strategies

  • Reviewing and refining intervention plans or progress-monitoring efforts

We value strong partnerships with educators and administrators, and we’re committed to helping schools support students effectively and sustainably.
