At Pencil & Pathways, we are a collaborative team of school psychologists and speech-language pathologists committed to helping students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Rooted in collaboration and guided by data, we provide thoughtful assessment, counseling, and consultation services to schools and families.

With deep experience across public and private educational settings, we believe in meeting each child with curiosity, compassion, and clarity. We partner with the adults who support them to open meaningful pathways forward.

Meet the Team

School Psychologist

Kate is the founder of Pencil & Pathways and a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP) with over 20 years of experience in the field of education. She is deeply committed to supporting students, families, and schools through compassionate, collaborative care. Prior to launching Pencil & Pathways, she co-owned Hill Country School Psychology Services for eight years.

Kate earned her undergraduate degree in Applied Learning and Development from the University of Texas at Austin and became a certified Master Reading Teacher in 2008. She went on to complete her Specialist Degree in School Psychology at Texas State University–San Marcos.

Kate holds licensure through the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists and is a Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP). She has served a wide range of students across public, charter, and private schools in Austin.

In addition to her work as an LSSP, Kate is a Parent Coach and a member of Ensemble Therapy. She has taught in Region XIII’s Counseling Certification Program and currently serves on the board of a private school in Austin. Before transitioning to school psychology, Kate spent seven years as a classroom teacher in both public and charter schools.

Originally from Madison, Wisconsin, Kate came to Texas as a student-athlete, rowing for the University of Texas. She now lives in Austin with her husband and their three children.

Lindsay Sims

Speech Language Pathologist

Lindsay received her undergraduate degree from The University of Texas- Austin in Communication Sciences and Disorders. She received her masters degree from Texas Christian University in Speech Language Pathology. Lindsay holds her American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Certificate of Clinical Competence (ASHACCC-SLP). She is also holds a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) practitioner license as a Speech Language Pathologist. Lindsay has worked as a speech language pathologist with Austin Independent School District for seven years, serving students ranging in age from 3 to 21. She has provided assessment and intervention services to preschool and school-age children with articulation disorders, language disorders, dysfluency, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and intellectual disabilities. Lindsay has developed and participated in Individual Education Programs and annual reviews; she has communicated and worked regularly with parents, teachers, and service providers to provide a network of strategy and support, as well as collaborated with Assistive Technology to design and implement augmentative and alternative communication systems for nonverbal students.

Born and raised in Texas, Lindsay plans to never leave! After returning to Austin after graduate school, she married her college sweetheart. You can find them on the weekends reading on their porch with their daughter and two bulldogs close by.

Erinn Edmonds

School Psychologist

Erinn received her undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Development at San Diego State University, later earning her graduate and Educational Specialist’s degree in Educational Psychology in 2004. Erinn has more than a decade of experience working in public and private school settings completing psycho-educational assessments for students starting at the age of three through high school who are experiencing learning or behavioral difficulties. Licensed under the Texas State Board of Examiners as a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP), Erinn also is licensed and has worked as a school psychologist in Illinois and California. Erinn has extensive experience working in urban and underserved communities with high rates of poverty and low academic achievement. She worked collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and parents in helping to identify students with potential learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, and behavioral disorders. Erinn was instrumental in developing interventions and appropriate educational programming to ensure student success. 

In addition to completing psycho-educational assessments, Erinn worked as a district trainer and consultant assisting other school districts in implementing early intervention programs for their most vulnerable students. To manage stress, Erinn began practicing yoga in 2010, realizing the value of yoga as not only a stress management tool for adults, but also as a way to practice mindfulness and emotional regulation for children. In 2018, she completed her 95 hour training to become a Registered Children’s Yoga Teacher (RCYT) through Youth Alliance Yoga in Chicago. Erinn is passionate about teaching children from a young age how to manage their own complex emotions and feel empowered through movement, breathing exercises, journaling, and small daily rituals.

Originally from Northern California, Erinn spent 12 years in blustery Chicago before she found her forever home in Austin, Texas. When not spending time with her husband and three children, she is likely reading or practicing yoga. 

Lindsay King Caughey

School Psychologist

Lindsay received her undergraduate degree from McGill University in Montreal, Canada, with a double major in biology and psychology. She then earned her master’s degree in school psychology in 2007 from Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. Lindsay is licensed under the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists as a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP). She is also licensed and has worked as a school psychologist in California. Lindsay has 17 years of experience as a school psychologist in the public school setting, most recently in Round Rock ISD. While she has worked with all age levels over the course of her career, the majority of Lindsay’s experience has been with preschool and elementary age students. During her time working in public schools, Lindsay gained valuable experience assessing and supporting students with autism, specific learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, selective mutism, executive functioning disorders (ADHD), and a variety of emotional and behavioral needs. Lindsay loves the problem solving aspect of psychoeducational evaluations and prides herself on highlighting student strengths and as well as weaknesses. Lindsay is passionate about collaborating with parents and teachers to develop educational programming that supports student success.

Lindsay is originally from Canada, but attended middle and high school in Jakarta, Indonesia, where she met her now husband. They moved to Texas in 2004 and have lived in Austin since 2012. When not working, Lindsay enjoys spending time with her husband, two children, and animal family. Her hobbies include reading, cross-stitching, and spending time outdoors.

School Psychologist

Christina received her undergraduate degree in Psychology and Human Development & Family Studies at the University of Connecticut. She then served as an AmeriCorps member running a literacy program at a charter school in Boston, MA and worked as behavior therapist while earning her graduate and certificate of advanced graduate studies degrees in Educational Psychology from Northeastern University.

Christina is a Nationally Certified School Psychologist and Licensed under the Texas State Board of Examiners as a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP). She is also licensed and has worked as a school psychologist in Massachusetts and California.

Christina has extensive experience working in public and virtual school settings completing psycho-educational assessments for students starting at the age of three through high school. She started her career in school psychology working in specialized programs that provide support for students with emotional and behavioral challenges as well as students diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders. In addition to completing psycho-educational assessments, Christina has experience providing counseling services, running social skills groups, and providing executive functioning coaching for children and young adults.

Originally from Connecticut, Christina spent 10 years in the Boston, Massachusetts area before moving to Austin, Texas.
